About Blitz

Hi, my name is Rueben Brown and welcome to my personal Digital Art blog.

Ever since I was young, I've had a fascination with video games and architecture. By, high school, those two interests eventually culminated into a passion for game design. I'm currently studying game design with a particular focus on level design and digital architecture at Ferris State University.

This blog will primarily be used to show off my 3D modelling skills, in particular regards to level development.

Software I Know:

  • Autodesk 3ds Max
    • Mental Ray
    • Vray
  • Pixologic Zbrush
  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Adobe Illustrator
  • Adobe Flash/Animate
  • Adobe After Effects
  • Unreal Engine 4
My Skills:
  • 3D modelling
    • High Poly
    • Low Poly
    • High to Low baking
  • Digital Sculpting
  • Unwrapping and Texturing
  • Story Writing
  • Programming
    • Unreal Engine Blueprints
    • Processing
    • Action Script 3
    • C#
Courses Completed:
  • Advanced Modelling Techniques
  • Rendering and Lighting
  • Digital Sculpting
  • Digital Painting
  • Level Design
  • Story Boarding
  • Story Development for Games
My Strengths and Weaknesses:
  • As far as strengths go, I'm well rounded in regards to basic skills. I also have a knack for critical thinking and problem solving.. I can essentially do anything at a base level if need be. My time with level design, particularly C# and Blueprints, has turned me into one of few artists that can (and enjoys to) think like a programmer. By that, I mean that, though I'm not as proficient at programming or know as many languages as a dedicated programmer, I have the understanding of the logic and that has allowed me to help in debugging code in the past. High Poly 3D modelling and Level creation are the areas that I feel most at home with. I've also gotten very good at working under pressure.
  • Like many, I struggle with time management, namely, spending too much time on one part of a project. I also lose motivation with personal projects if I feel I've spent too much time on them or if they're not turning out the way I want them to. While I can do so when needed, 2D drawing and texture painting are not my strong points and I tend to avoid them when I can. I do hope to improve upon both of those skills in the coming months.
